Simple Tracking System in partnership with Cumberland County, PA launched a first-of-its-kind pilot project to assist law enforcement agencies identify community members impacted by dementia, autism, and other special needs in an emergency situation.
The Cumberland County Dementia and Autism Registry is a voluntary, digital registry that allows community members to register their loved ones with the county. Families register by scanning a QR code and then providing important information on their loved one, including name, contact information, demographic information, medical information, emergency contact information, and a facial photo. If the individual ever becomes lost, missing or wanders from safety, law enforcement can take a photo of the individual and match it with the one stored in the registry. By matching records, the officer can pull pertinent information on the individual to help assist the individual and reunite them with their family.
Families are asked to re-verify the information on an annual basis as well as contact their local police agency anytime the information changes. This is to ensure the registry has the most accurate and up-to-date information as possible.
